The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home has served Monmouth County since

The first undertaking establishment in New York City was founded in 1832,
167 years ago, by Samuel Benedict in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. The
second generation funeral director, Charles A. Benedict, was in complete
charge of President Garfield's funeral following his assassination in 1881. He
also handled the pallbearer arrangements for President Grant's funeral in
1885. The Benedict family began the transition into Westchester at the turn
of the 20th century. Today, six generations later, we remain an independent
and family owned funeral home, to which people from all cultures and faiths
turn to when faced with the loss of a loved one. Our legacy of caring
continues, with the professional guidance of Alan Benedict and his daughter
Carrie Benedict.
